Dental Services Lead
FCMS started delivering dental services from a single surgery in the year 2000. Since then we have expanded and are now providing Emergency Dental Services (Out of Hours) 365 days a year, to more than 10,000 patients across the Fylde Coast, Blackpool and Morecambe Bay.
FCMS Domiciliary Dental service has evolved over the years and we are now providing over a service to around 300 vulnerable patients per year. This is a valuable service for patients who are unable to get out to see a dentist, or require discharge from hospital. We are able to visit the patient in the comfort of their own home/rest home and provide reassurance, or assist a transfer out of hospital delayed by dental needs. We can only offer limited treatment options, i.e. dentures and undertake referrals to more appropriate services for as specialist dentistry.
We are a multidisciplinary team, comprised of Dentists, Dental Nurses, Receptionists and experienced leaders and managers. FCMS also operate the Lancashire Dental Helpline service, this allows us to provide a fantastic, consistent, pathway for the patient journey ensuring our service delivery is as seamless as possible for patients, whilst maintaining robust clinical governance measures.
FCMS dental services are provided all year round and have an enthusiastic, dedicated hard working team to deliver the best possible services to our patients.

URGENT DENTAL CARE – OUT OF HOURS
FCMS Emergency Dental Services are responsible for all evening and weekend emergency access for registered and non-registered patients 365 days a year. Patients are triaged via the Lancashire dental helpline. We are only able to accommodate Emergency dental patients in our Out of Hours service with severe pain, swelling and/or dental trauma’s.
NHS dental fee’s apply unless you are exempt from dental charges. There will be a Band 1 NHS charge.

Morecambe service is open:
- Monday to Friday – 17:30pm-21.00pm
- Saturday – 9:30am – 13:30pm
- Sunday – 9:30am – 13:30pm
Blackpool service is open:
- Monday to Friday – 17:30pm-21:00pm
- Saturday – 10:00am-17:00pm
- Sunday – 10:00am-15:00pm

NHS DENTAL WAITING LIST
There is no longer a waiting list for NHS dentists across the Fylde Coast, Blackpool or Morecambe Bay. Please contact the Lancashire Dental Helpline for help with finding an NHS dentist. Alternatively you can visit NHS choices for information on NHS dentists. You can also try calling round your local dentists to see if they are taking NHS patients.
We provide a Domiciliary Service to patients who cannot access NHS dental care in a surgery setting. Our bespoke team go out into the community providing essential care to patients either in their own home or in a residential care facility. Due to the limitations of treating patients at residential addresses, patients are sometimes referred to the hospital for more in depth treatment.
In order to ensure those patient most in need are seen, quickly and effectively we do apply a criteria into the Domiciliary service. We do this to ensure the quality, patient safety, and wellbeing of those most vulnerable in our communities is met. We will always look at the wider contact of the patient in making a decision to accept a patient or make a recommendation of where to get treatment to those who can travel with assistance/support.
